Franks/Padley

“In the 1990's, President James E. Faust of the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited Martin’s Cove.  He was very moved when he was told of the love story of Sarah Franks and George Padley.  With a tear in his eye he said it had to be one of the great love stories of the western migration.”  (Tell My Story, Too, by Jolene S. Allphin, page 206.)  This beautiful love story is told on pages of Miracles of the Martin Handcart Company.  On pages 20-1 they are introduced to Charlotte, page 136 tells how they were always together and kind and charitable, pages 267-8 tells the sad story of George dying, being wrapped in Sarah’s shawl and being “buried” in a tree, and page 331 tells the miraculous discovery of what  happened to his body.
